On the morning of March 8, the School of Marxism held the 2026 Key Work Deployment Meeting in Room E705, Mingde Building. Members of the school's leading group, members of the Party Committee, secretaries of all Party branches, and heads of all secondary units attended the meeting, which was presided over by Ma Yunxiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School.
At the meeting, Gao Xianzhong, Dean of the School, conveyed and promoted the implementation of the guiding spirit of key university documents, including the Work Plan of Harbin Institute of Technology for Implementing the Plan for the Development of the Ideological and Political Theory Course Teacher Team in Regular Institutions of Higher Education (2025-2027) and the Three-Year Action Plan of Harbin Institute of Technology for Improving the Teaching Competence of Ideological and Political Theory Course Teachers (2025-2027). He provided an in-depth interpretation of the core essence, objectives, tasks and implementation requirements of the documents, and stressed that guided by the spirit of the documents, the school will comprehensively strengthen the development of the ideological and political theory course teacher team, and continuously improve teachers' teaching ability and talent cultivation level. Meanwhile, he briefed the feedback from the evaluation of the school's doctoral program, accurately sorted out the strengths and highlights identified in the evaluation, conducted an in-depth analysis of existing shortcomings and deficiencies, and made arrangements for rectification and implementation work.
The meeting arranged two key research and opinion solicitation initiatives. First, to solicit opinions and suggestions on the school's Measures for the Assessment of Teachers' Basic Workload, aiming to further optimize the assessment system, give full play to the guiding, incentive and restrictive functions of assessment, and stimulate the vitality of the faculty in fulfilling their duties and pursuing development. Second, to solicit opinions on the school's 15th Five-Year Development Plan, calling on all faculty and staff of the school to put forward suggestions and advice for drawing up the blueprint for the school's high-quality development in the next five years, based on the school's disciplinary characteristics and closely aligned with the needs of the times.
The meeting laid out specific arrangements for the school's key tasks in 2026. It required solid efforts to ensure the implementation and effectiveness of the Curriculum Plan for Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Institutions of Higher Education in the New Era. All teachers of the school are required to accurately grasp the connotation and requirements of the curriculum plan, deepen the reform of teaching content, innovate teaching methods and approaches, improve the curriculum evaluation system, and effectively enhance the ideological depth, theoretical rigor and targeted effectiveness of ideological and political theory courses. The meeting also required solid implementation of the school's 2026 list of key tasks with a clear roadmap and timeline, coordinate the advancement of all work including Party building, talent cultivation, faculty team development, disciplinary development, scientific research, and social services, keep a close eye on key milestones, refine work measures, and ensure that all key tasks are advanced in an orderly manner and deliver tangible results.
In his concluding remarks, Gao Xianzhong stressed that 2026 is a critical year for the school to advance high-quality development. All faculty and staff of the school must elevate their political stance, strengthen their sense of responsibility and accountability, ensure the implementation of all tasks with the nail-driving spirit, translate the spirit of the documents into tangible work results, refine the development blueprint into a list of actionable items, and integrate evaluation rectification into daily development. He called on the whole school to strive to create a new phase of development for all work of the school, and contribute the strength of the School of Marxism to HIT's endeavor to rank among the forefront of world-class universities.
